Bonitinho, mas sem sal. Esta é a melhor forma de definir O Amor Acontece, longa de estreia de Brandon Camp como diretor, estrelado por Aaron Eckhart, de Obrigado Por Fumar (2005), e Jennifer Aniston, a ex Friends mais bem sucedida. O roteiro tem a divisão de seus três atos bem definida pela mudança de gênero. É uma pena a trama cair num sentimentalismo piegas, pois a estrutura da estória foi muito bem desenvolvida. Começa como uma comédia, passa por um (quase) romance e termina como um drama, que vai definir se o romance entre o casal de protagonistas vai deixar de ficar no quase, ou não.
Burke (Aaron Eckhart) perde sua mulher em um acidente de carro e resolve escrever um livro sobre como lidar com a perda. O que ele não esperava é que a obra fosse fazer tanto sucesso, o tornando um ícone da autoajuda, com status de celebridade. Mas, para isso, ele conta com a ajuda de seu agente Lane (Dan Fogler), uma figuraça. Quando Burke vai à Seattle ministrar um seminário, conhece Eloise (Jennifer Aniston). Após anos de luto, ela desperta seu interesse e o faz pensar em, finalmente, se relacionar com outra mulher. Mas o fato de estar na cidade onde aconteceu o acidente, e onde moram os pais de sua falecida esposa, abala seus sentimentos.
A química entre Aaron Eckhart e Jennifer Aniston funciona bem, mas o que dá fluidez ao filme é a ótima participação do elenco de apoio, com destaque para Walter (John Carroll Lynchum), um participante do seminário, que ainda não superou a morte do filho. O longa tem ótimos momentos, mas quando se propõe a tentar dar lições de autoajuda, perde-se totalmente num mar de superficialidade. É um filme irregular, que consegue divertir e emocionar, em alguns momentos, mas, no minuto seguinte, irritar. Mais um enlatado descartável da safra de Hollywood.
